Migration Process​

For Custom Domain Users (Zero Downtime)​

If you're using a custom domain (e.g., go.yourcompany.com), you can migrate with zero downtime:

  1. Import Links - Upload your existing link structure via CSV
  2. Test on Temporary Domain - Verify everything works correctly
  3. DNS Switch - Update your CNAME to point to LinkForty
  4. All Links Continue Working - Existing links in emails, websites, and social media keep working
Zero Downtime Migration

The key to zero-downtime migration is custom domain control. Since you own the DNS, you can switch providers instantly while preserving all link structures.

Timeline​

  • Day 1: Export links from current provider
  • Day 1-2: Import and verify in LinkForty
  • Day 2: DNS switch (5-10 minutes downtime max)
  • Day 3+: Monitor traffic, cancel old provider when confident

Prerequisites​

Before starting your migration:

  1. Custom Domain - Ensure you have a custom domain configured with your current provider
  2. Export Access - Verify you can export your link data as CSV
  3. DNS Access - Confirm you have access to update DNS records
  4. Team Buy-in - Notify stakeholders of migration timeline

Migration Checklist​

  • Export link data from current platform
  • Create LinkForty account
  • Set up custom domain in LinkForty
  • Import links using migration tool
  • Test links on temporary domain
  • Lower DNS TTL to 300 seconds (24-48 hours before)
  • Update CNAME record to point to LinkForty
  • Monitor traffic and analytics
  • Verify all links redirect correctly
  • Cancel old provider subscription (after 7-30 days)
